“Convergence  meditates, over and over again, in different and increasingly complex ways, on the nature of memory and dreams; on the conflict between our desire to resolve, parse, understand all that came before and the impossibility of ever managing to satisfactorily do so. Manion peppers her play with breathtaking images that reinforce her main ideas: an amnesiac burying his fossil collection so that he can find it again; a pair of long-separated lovers finding each other in the midst of a chaotic political rally. With words and visuals, Manion creates a highly theatrical look at some of the fundamental forces that define our humanity.” (Martin Denton, NYTheatre.com)

Force Cast, 2007 (Angela Sommerfeld and Bradley Wells, photo by Adam Courtney)

In a play that spans three continents, a war journalist, a mechanic, one artist, one humanitarian aid worker, a regular guy and a science teacher plunge into painfully normal and profoundly extreme moments in time when memory and identity is absolute. Through dreams, travel, memories and a tinge of magic realism, Convergence is the story of three couples (and a few of their eccentric acquaintances) at convergent points in their lives. What will the moment  of convergence bring?
